AEW Star Bobby Lashley Makes a Surprising Admission About His Future

Bobby Lashley, a renowned figure in the world of professional wrestling who once held the WWE Championship, lately disclosed some unexpected plans for life beyond the wrestling ring. Over time, Lashley has built a substantial reputation within the wrestling industry.

Apart from wrestling, Lashley is well-known for his victories in mixed martial arts (MMA). He launched his MMA career in 2008 and competed in significant leagues such as Strikeforce and Bellator, squaring off against top-tier opponents. Lashley boasts an impressive MMA record of 15 wins and just 2 losses.

His most recent MMA fight took place at Bellator 162 back in 2016, where he secured a submission victory over Josh Appelt. Since that time, Lashley has chosen not to step into the MMA cage. Yet, with his current thriving career in AEW, Lashley has hinted at the prospect of re-entering the MMA scene.

AEW star Bobby Lashley says he’s not done with MMA or Boxing

In a recent episode of AEW’s Hey! (EW) on their YouTube channel, Bobby Lashley was questioned about being among the few wrestlers to excel in MMA. He clarified, “I don’t believe I’m the only one who was skilled at it. Dave [Batista] stepped into the ring, won a match, he prepared for it and continues to train. In my opinion, that’s achieving success. Brock [Lesnar] also succeeded, winning the UFC title, and there were others who tried MMA as well.

He went on to say, “For me, delving into it wasn’t solely about reaching a particular level. Instead, when I engage in something, I aspire to become a lifelong learner of the craft. So, I established a gym. In doing so, I immersed myself in the process…I am the type who is comfortable with stepping back and admitting there are things I don’t know. Over ten years, I trained at various gyms and ran my own gym…So, it’s something I still wish to explore. I plan to participate in a boxing match or fight yet.

Last week, Bobby Lashley teamed up with Shelton Benjamin to claim the AEW Tag Team Championship during Dynamite. As his professional wrestling career thrives, it’s exciting to speculate whether he might return to mixed martial arts competition in the future.
