AEW Reportedly Planning Title Unification — Will Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada Happen?

It appears that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is rumored to merge the Continental Championship and the International Championship. At present, these belts are in the possession of Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega respectively.

Last year, Okada joined AEW and right off the bat, he teamed up with The Elite during his first appearance. The previous IWGP World Heavyweight Champion swiftly advanced in the company and claimed a championship title. During an episode of Dynamite, he beat Eddie Kingston to win the Continental Championship, marking his initial victory in AEW.

Recently, Kenny Omega came back following a prolonged absence of more than a year. Immediately upon his return, he rekindled rivalries with Konosuke Takeshita and Don Callis, who was once his ally. In the past, Takeshita had managed to secure two wins against Omega in a group match at AEW All In and another one-on-one match at AEW All Out.

Eventually, at AEW Revolution, it was Kenny Omega who exacted his vengeance by overcoming Takeshita and claiming the International Championship. With AEW’s championship roster growing, rumors circulate that the organization intends to merge its secondary belts.

Discussing the possibility of combining the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) International Title and the AEW Continental Title, there’s been excitement stirring over the prospect of a highly anticipated match-up between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada.

There’s talk about joining together two championship belts from AEW (All Elite Wrestling) – the International Championship and the Continental Championship. This could lead to the dream confrontation between wrestlers, Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada.

AEW plans title unification, but Omega vs. Okada match remains unclear

According to Fightful Select (a subscription-based platform), several AEW insiders have confirmed that the concept of title unification, suggested several months ago, was initially viewed as a robust creative decision. Nevertheless, the specific wrestlers participating and whether the titles will be combined into one or kept distinct are yet to be determined.

Nevertheless, the merger brings up the query about whether it might result in a highly anticipated face-off between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada. At this moment, it remains undecided if an Omega versus Okada confrontation is part of the current plans.

As the process of combining titles is underway, there’s a possibility that the contest might be held at AEW’s most significant event, All In Texas, which is set for July 12, 2025, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
