Actress Adria Arjona has shared insights about her character Bix Caleen’s emotional departure in Season 2 of “Andor”, disclosing behind-the-scenes details on filming her last scenes. Though Bix was absent from “Rogue One”, the actress talked about how they constructed her exit and the weight she carried while delivering a significant farewell speech that connects to Cassian’s broader storyline.
Adria Arjona on Bix’s Andor Season 2 exit before Rogue One
In the ninth episode of Andor Season 2, titled “Welcome to the Rebellion,” Bix Caleen departs from the narrative, offering an explanation as to why she was not present in Rogue One. After reconnecting with Cassian on Yavin following the Ghorman Massacre, Bix decides to move on, leaving a recorded message behind. In this message, she expresses her need to depart and remain absent for an uncertain duration and location. She also believes that Cassian has a significant role to play and chooses to join the Rebellion.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: “Bix makes clear that she’s chosen to stay out of Cassian’s Rebellion business. She confesses, ‘If you were to abandon this fight for me… I couldn’t live with myself.’ She ends by promising, ‘When the battle is won, when we’ve triumphed… I’ll find you.’ The reason Bix doesn’t show up in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story? She had to depart.
Adria Arjona, the actress playing Bix, told TVLine that Tony Gilroy, the creator of Andor, shared with her ahead of time that her character would be leaving. According to Arjona, “Tony Gilroy values giving actors information early, and he believes in empowering them.” So before Dan Gilroy had written the farewell speech, she recalled Tony calling her to give a heads-up about what was coming up.
During the shooting of Netflix’s Hit Man, Arjona discovered Bix’s outcome beforehand. However, she mentioned that having prior knowledge enabled her to better understand and portray the character’s development. She remarked, “There’s an intriguing connection that comes about when you read it.
Filming the farewell scene was an intense and nerve-wracking experience for Arjona, who confessed that giving that particular speech left her feeling incredibly anxious. “It was likely one of the most terrifying days I’ve had on set,” she said, emphasizing how challenging it was for her on that particular occasion.
