Today, people primarily associate Nandamuri Balakrishna with his mass-market side, characterized by his flamboyant scenes and tough-guy dialogues. However, in the ’80s and ’90s, when he was still relatively young, Balakrishna dabbled in a variety of roles. One noteworthy example of this versatility was his performance in Aditya 369.
Approximately 34 years after its initial cinema debut, the science fiction film “Aditya 369” starring Balakrishna is ready for a fresh run in theaters. The movie’s creators announced this exciting update on their social media platform (previously known as Twitter).

In their tweet, they announced that they will be re-releasing the iconic Indian sci-fi film Aditya 369 in 4K quality this summer. They encourage fans to join them for a journey through time as they revisit NBK’s timeless classic on the big screen again. Keep an eye out for the official release date!
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but rave about the captivating masterpiece that is Aditya 369! This Telugu language epic features none other than the legendary Nandamuri Balakrishna, along with Mohini, Tarun Kumar, Amrish Puri, Tinnu Anand, and a host of other talented stars in pivotal roles. The genius behind this cinematic marvel is Singeetham Srinivas Rao, a filmmaker whose name stands synonymous with brilliance in the world of Telugu cinema.
In simpler terms, it was Sridevi Films that took on a large-scale production for this movie, while Ilaiyaraaja created the unique music and sound effects for its soundtrack and backdrop.
Aditya 369 was the pioneering science fiction movie produced within Indian cinema, and it’s said to be the initial instance of time travel in Indian cinema. The plot revolves around a scatterbrained professor who creates a time machine. Characters named Krishna, Hema, and Raja each have their motivations for seeking the time machine.
Aditya 369 didn’t make a huge impact at the movie theater but turned out to be profitable for everyone involved. Yet, Balakrishna’s previous commercially-oriented films earned more than Aditya 369’s takings, which could explain why Balakrishna might opt for more commercial themes in his future projects.
Balakrishna’s latest appearance was in the movie titled Daaku Maharaj. This film has recently been made available on Netflix. Although it received a lot of positive feedback, it faced criticism for its depiction of Urvashi Rautela’s character, particularly in the song ‘Dabidi Dibidi’.
Balakrishna is reportedly going to be working with Boyapati Srinu next for the sequel of Akhanda.
