Adam Sandler Baseball Movie With Josh Safdie Gets Promising Update

As a die-hard fan of Adam Sandler and his unique brand of comedy, I’ve been eagerly waiting for this baseball card movie since its announcement back in 2019. With the recent update from Sandler himself about the project, my excitement is reaching an all-time high!

According to recent updates, Adam Sandler is optimistic about the upcoming film project related to card collecting, which he’s been developing alongside Josh Safdie for quite some time now.

Lately, during an interview with Indiewire, Sandler expressed optimism regarding a project that’s faced multiple delays since it was first announced in 2019. According to him, he had a recent conversation with Josh Safdie about this very project and has read the exciting screenplay for it.

“Sandler mentioned that we discussed something today which he hopes will resurface soon. He found it fascinating, described it as an intriguing script, and stated that Josh is putting in a lot of effort to make it happen.”

Initially, it was announced that the movie would start production for Netflix in 2019. But since then, the film has faced several setbacks. These were caused by the COVID-19 pandemic (which halted filming during baseball matches) and later by SAG-AFTRA strikes.

What do we know about Adam Sandler’s baseball movie?

Titled yet unrevealed, this upcoming project is under the direction of Josh Safdie, who has penned its screenplay as well. Originally conceived as a joint effort by the Safdie brothers, the team has recently taken a temporary break, with Benny venturing into acting in addition to directing. This film serves as Josh Safdie’s second standalone directorial work, following his 2008 feature “The Pleasure of Being Robbed.”

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve heard whispers about this upcoming project that reportedly had an incredible lineup – Ben Affleck, Megan Thee Stallion, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Steve Harvey were all supposed to be part of it. However, with the numerous setbacks, it’s tough to say who’s still on board these days.

In the ’90s, a retired baseball pitcher named Affleck aims to make a return to the limelight by venturing into sports memorabilia business. Meanwhile, Sandler’s character seeks to profit from his success in this high-stakes sports card collecting world. According to reports, Megan Thee Stallion will portray Affleck’s love interest in the film.
