Sadly, he passed away in the early morning hours of May 29, allegedly due to complications related to his respiratory system. At the time of his death, he was 75 years old and is survived by his children Diya and Deepak.

Currently, Tamil film icon Rajinikanth has shared a poignant post on social media, lamenting the demise of his cherished companion. In a touching tribute on platform X, the Coolie star conveyed his deep sorrow and astonishment at this tragic turn of events.

I’m sharing a message I received: “Learning about the unexpected demise of my dear friend, actor Rajesh, left me stunned and filled with sorrow. He was truly remarkable; may he find eternal peace. My heartfelt sympathies go out to his loved ones.

Rajesh worked in over 150 films in 50-year long career

In my passion for the arts, I’ve left an indelible mark on more than just Tamil cinema. My contributions extend to the Telugu and Malayalam film industries as well. Beyond my acting endeavors, I lent my voice as a dubbing artist, and made a strong impact in the realm of television too.

Born in the Tiruvarur district, Rajesh first appeared on screen in 1974 with the film “Aval Oru Thodar Kathai”, featuring Kamal Haasan. Despite his brief role, it brought him some noteworthiness.

His big break as a lead actor came in 1979 with the film Kanni Paruvathile.

Rajesh has worked with the leading stars of South cinema

Throughout more than five decades in his acting career, Rajesh took on a multitude of characters, often working alongside legends such as Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Thalapathy Vijay, Mohanlal, Vijay Sethupathi, and numerous others.

In a more recent role, he was featured in the 2024 Hindi movie “Merry Christmas,” alongside stars Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif.
