As a hardcore fan of tactical shooters and time-loop narratives, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming release of Active Matter by Team Matter! With my past life experiences of battling through parallel universes and outsmarting enemies in high-stakes tactical raids, I can’t help but feel that this game was tailor-made for me.
Game developer Gaijin Entertainment has unveiled their upcoming tactical shooter game titled “Active Matter,” which is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series in the year 2025.
The most recent preview offers a tantalizing glimpse into an immersive journey filled with aspects such as repeating time sequences and alternate dimensions.
But what can we actually expect from Team Matter’s intriguing shooter?
Active Matter: A tactical FPS from another universe
In a shattered multiverse, the game titled “Active Matter” offers a strategic first-person shooting experience. Here, you assume the role of an operative tasked with venturing into perilous areas to gather “active matter,” a peculiar substance known for its ability to manipulate time and dimensions.
In this game, you’ll experience a mix of player versus player (PvP) and player versus environment (PvE) action. This means you’ll engage in thrilling battles against other operatives as well as unpredictable threats in intriguing, immersive settings. Armed with authentic weapons and equipment, the game offers intense, strategic raids that are sure to keep you on your toes.
As shown in the trailer, the character finds themselves repeating the same sequence of events following each demise, a situation where they’re trapped within a time loop. The objective here is to obtain active matter from unstable quantum regions before these areas completely disintegrate.
On your journey, you’ll encounter opponents hailing from different timeframes, face peculiar abnormalities, and dodge beings molded by the capricious characteristics of dynamic matter.
