As a movie enthusiast with a knack for spotting promising collaborations, I am thoroughly enthused about A24’s acquisition of the distribution rights for the upcoming comedy “Friendship.” With Emmy winner Tim Robinson and Golden Globe nominee Paul Rudd leading the cast, this film is sure to deliver a delightful dose of humor.

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that A24 has secured the distribution rights for the upcoming comedy masterpiece, “Friendship.” Starring the talented Emmy winner Tim Robinson and the charismatic Golden Globe nominee Paul Rudd, this film is destined to be a hit. It recently made its world debut at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival under the Midnight Madness banner, but an official release date hasn’t been announced just yet. I can hardly wait!

1) Robinson is embarking on his debut as the main actor in a significant film production, following appearances as a secondary character in films such as Brother Nature and An American Pickle. On the other hand, Rudd has been Emmy-nominated for his role as Ben Glenroy in Only Murders in the Building Season 3. He’s now set to star in several upcoming movies, including the musical drama Power Ballad and the dark comedy Death of a Unicorn.

What is Friendship about?

Andrew DeYoung makes his feature directorial debut with the movie “Friendship,” where he writes and directs. The film stars Paul Rudd as a suburban father who becomes infatuated with his neighbor, played by Justin Robinson. Joining this star-studded cast are Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra, Billy Bryk, Meredith Garretson, Jason Veasey, Daniel London and others.

In this film’s summary (from TIFF), it says that when an unintended delivery draws suburban dad Craig Waterman (played by Robinson) towards his enigmatic and captivating neighbor Austin Carmichael (Rudd), a seeming budding friendship develops during a night of city exploration, punk rock, and shared fascination for ancient artifacts. However, what was supposed to be the beginning of a wonderful relationship takes an unexpected turn as Craig’s fixation starts pushing Austin away, leading to a downward spiral that could potentially disrupt Craig’s entire life.
