Step into the realm of Rick Owens this coming summer! I, myself, am crafting an extensive retrospective exhibition at the Palais Galliera in Paris this June. Get ready to immerse yourself in a spectacular journey through my creative evolution!
The upcoming Rick Owens exhibit, titled “Temple of Love,” promises a unique experience showcasing 30 concrete brutalist sculptures and a replica of his personal bedroom with his wife, Michèle Lamy. As the curator of this event, the focus will be on Rick’s life and career. The Palais Galliera team describes it as an “unparalleled” display in size and scope, starting from the building’s facade and garden where sculptures will be draped in sequins-embroidered fabric. This exhibit is a grand exploration of love, beauty, and diversity presented on a monumental scale.
Inside the exhibition adorned with sequin-covered statues, you’ll find more than 100 unique fashion shapes alongside personal memos, videos, installations, and artwork from Gustave Moreau, Joseph Beuys, and Steven Parrino. This display will trace Rick Owens‘ journey as a pattern maker in Los Angeles, leading up to the establishment of his own label in 1994. The showcase will reveal how he drew inspiration for his designs from the 1930s glamour style and underground culture, referencing various sources such as Joris-Karl Huysmans, contemporary art, early Hollywood films, including the biblical epics directed by Cecil B. DeMille.
The exhibition titled “Temple of Love” by Rick Owens commences at Palais Galliera on June 28 and continues until January 4, 2026.
