As a seasoned film enthusiast and connoisseur of thrilling survival stories, I must say that “Hungry” piques my interest! The idea of a rampaging hippo terrorizing tourists in a new movie is both intriguing and terrifying – just what I look for in a good survival thriller.
In the heart-pounding survival thriller, “Rampage of the Hungry Hippo,” a destructive hippo is wreaking havoc and causing fear among unsuspecting tourists.
The movie “Hungry,” helmed by James Nunn (known for directing this year’s “One Shot”), is being marketed at the American Film Market by Signature Entertainment.
According to reports, filming for the upcoming movie has begun in Malta, but as of now, the actors have not been disclosed.
What do we know about the Hungry hippo survival thriller movie?
The story revolves around a band of vacationers who find themselves in a life-or-death struggle with an enraged hippo that has escaped after they got lost in the vast wetlands of Louisiana.
In the production of this movie, it’s Signature Entertainment’s Ben Jacques who takes the lead role, while Marc Goldberg and Sarah Gabriel assume their roles as executive producers.
According to an article in Variety, some of the crucial behind-the-scenes talents working on the film are Dan Martin, a multiple award-winning MUFX designer (known for his work on The Banshees of Inisherin, Possessor, and Infinity Pool), and Magic Dust VFX, an acclaimed VFX company (responsible for True Detective: Night Country and One Piece). These two entities have joined the project to create the film’s central hippo character, Hungry.
It’s unclear at this point if Nunn’s film is based on the popular game Hungry Hungry Hippos, as a movie adaptation of the game was once planned back in 2012 but has not progressed since then, leaving its connection to the film uncertain.
In addition to the movie “One Shot”, Nunn’s previous works also include films such as “Tower Block” from 2012, “Green Street 3: Never Back Down” in 2013, “Elminators” and “The Marine 5: Battleground” both released in 2016, followed by “The Marine 6: Close Quarters” in 2018. His latest film is a sequel to “One Shot”, titled “One More Shot”, which featured actors like Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, Alexis Knapp, and Tom Berenger.
The American Film Market kicks off on November 5, 2024, and runs through November 10, 2024. However, no specific launch date for the film “Hungry” has been set as of now.
