As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless reality shows, I must confess that my initial curiosity was piqued by Beast Games due to MrBeast’s reputation for grandiose productions. However, after diving into the series, I found myself more disheartened than entertained.
The show seems to be a perfect storm of sensationalism and exploitation, pushing participants to their emotional brink while encouraging the worst aspects of human nature. The constant drama, fueled by the lure of money, is not only off-putting but also sets a terrible example for younger viewers.
I’ve seen my fair share of reality TV, from Survivor to Big Brother, and I can confidently say that Beast Games is a step below even those shows in terms of quality and tastefulness. It’s like watching a pathetic, sweaty, dystopian trainwreck—and not in a fun, so-bad-it’s-good kind of way.
That being said, I can’t help but find a bit of irony in the fact that a show about competition and survival is struggling to stay afloat in the ratings. Maybe it’s karma, or perhaps it’s just a case of too much drama for even the most hardened reality TV fans.
On a lighter note, I can’t help but wonder what MrBeast would do if he ever decided to create a show about gaming instead—perhaps we’d see some epic Twitch wars or a battle royale in Fortnite with millions on the line! Now that would be a spectacle worth watching.
Regardless of the nature of MrBeast’s projects, they often attract a flurry of criticism from various angles, and more often than not, this criticism holds water. Consequently, it’s not astonishing that some are raising concerns about issues in MrBeast’s latest venture, Beast Games.
Following our coverage of the challenging situation surrounding MrBeast’s project of creating an entire city for his show, it seems that The Beast Game is now facing a significant amount of criticism as well.
1,000 participant and $5 million
Last December, the original series “BeastGames,” which is available only on Prime Video, centers on over a thousand contestants vying for a grand prize of $5 million.
Beyond the main event’s substantial reward, each episode offers numerous opportunities for folks to pocket some cash too. (As a fan, I find these secondary wins quite exciting!)
As a longtime fan of MrBeast, I can attest to the thrill and intrigue that his challenges bring. One such challenge presents a unique twist: individuals are offered sums ranging from $100k to a million dollars in exchange for willingly giving up their entire team!
Imagine being faced with this decision – the potential for financial security versus loyalty to your teammates. It’s a dilemma that puts my own life experiences into perspective, as I ponder what I would do if presented with such an offer.
The allure of instant wealth can be tempting, but the bond shared with my team is priceless. I would find it hard to let go of that connection for the sake of personal gain. However, this challenge highlights the diverse perspectives and moral dilemmas that MrBeast skillfully weaves into his content, making him a captivating figure in the YouTube community.
The ethical dilemma portrayed on the show often exposes candidates to their weakest points, prompting a wave of criticism from viewers who feel the series exaggerates the drama.
Trainwreck without role models
On Rotten Tomatoes people are also criticizing the show’s quality, giving it a smashing 17% rating.
One user wrote:
The drama itself makes you watch it, but at the same time becomes so off-putting to watch people cry as though they were sacrificing their lives at war for ‘the greater good’.
Another said:
The game can get intense, and people are shown arguing, yelling, and crying out of anger and frustration during the competition, which doesn’t set a great example for younger viewers.
One user even called the show “A pathetic, sweaty, dystopian trainwreck“.
Spectators argue that the program emphasizes the most selfish, arrogant aspects of its contestants to generate additional excitement, thereby depicting only the unflattering traits of humanity, primarily motivated by substantial financial incentives.
Did you catch last night’s program? I’m curious about your impressions regarding the obstacles faced by the contestants, as well as their reactions, those of viewers, and what the critics had to say about it.
