This weekend, a film adaptation of the widely-known video game, Minecraft, produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, will hit theaters across the U.S. Directed by Jared Hess, the movie features main actors such as Jason Momoa and Jack Black, along with other notable stars.

A Minecraft Movie has broken the record for video game-based film previews, outperforming Universal and Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s Thursday night earnings of $10.3 million. However, it is worth mentioning that The Super Mario Bros. Movie, set to release in 2023, did not have a Thursday preview as it opened on a Wednesday instead.
How much money is A Minecraft Movie going to make during its opening weekend?
According to Deadline, it’s expected that a Minecraft film will earn at least $80 million in its debut weekend in the U.S.
According to Variety, the movie’s projected earnings are estimated to be between $70 million and $80 million, although there’s also a possibility it could make as much as $90 million on its opening weekend. It is said that the film costs around $150 million just for production, with even more set aside for marketing expenses.
