A Minecraft Movie Thursday Night Previews Sets Box Office Record for Video Game Movies

A Minecraft Movie is off to a great start at the box office.

This weekend, a film adaptation of the widely-known video game, Minecraft, produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, will hit theaters across the U.S. Directed by Jared Hess, the movie features main actors such as Jason Momoa and Jack Black, along with other notable stars.

By the Set Date, a Movie Based on Minecraft Earned $10.55 Million at the Box Office During Its Preview Showings on Thursday Night.

A Minecraft Movie has broken the record for video game-based film previews, outperforming Universal and Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s Thursday night earnings of $10.3 million. However, it is worth mentioning that The Super Mario Bros. Movie, set to release in 2023, did not have a Thursday preview as it opened on a Wednesday instead.

How much money is A Minecraft Movie going to make during its opening weekend?

According to Deadline, it’s expected that a Minecraft film will earn at least $80 million in its debut weekend in the U.S.

According to Variety, the movie’s projected earnings are estimated to be between $70 million and $80 million, although there’s also a possibility it could make as much as $90 million on its opening weekend. It is said that the film costs around $150 million just for production, with even more set aside for marketing expenses.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that alongside Black, Momoa, the cast of the upcoming Minecraft movie includes Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Coolidge, Sebastian Hansen, and many other talented stars!

Step into the enchanting realm of Minecraft, where creativity isn’t merely useful, it’s vital for survival! A group of four unlikely heroes – Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers), and Dawn (Brooks) – find themselves grappling with everyday issues when they are all of a sudden whisked through a peculiar portal into the Overworld: an extraordinary, blocky universe that flourishes on creativity. To return home, they must learn to navigate this world, defend it from threats like Piglins and Zombies along the way, and embark on a mystical journey alongside an expert craftsman, Steve (Black). Their adventure will push each of them to be brave and rediscover their unique creative talents…talents they’ll need to succeed in the real world.
