The Baahubali movie series continues to be one of the most memorable productions by filmmaker SS Rajamouli. Exactly 8 years ago today, on April 28th, the second installment of this Indian epic action film was released. To this day, it remains a beloved classic among viewers. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and remember when actor Prabhas underwent an incredible physical transformation for his part in the movie.
To create the contrast between Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali, the filmmakers intended for Prabhas to portray a muscular appearance in one role and a slimmer physique in the other. This transformation was part of the overall vision for the characters.
Despite the challenge appearing formidable, filmmaker SS Rajamouli and the team behind the movie surprised their actor with an unexpected reward: a high-value fitness setup costing approximately 1.5 crore Indian rupees.
Additionally, Prabhas devoted his time to training under the tutelage of renowned bodybuilder Laxman Reddy, who is known for his awards in the field.
Originally, Prabhas needed to bulk up by 20 kilograms of muscle for his part as Amarendra Baahubali, the Rebel star. However, for the character of his son, he had to appear leaner and more athletic in build.
Consequently, over a span of four years, the actor experienced significant variations in his weight, reaching over 100 kilograms at times. For every character in his films, he made substantial changes to his eating habits.
As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the monumental metamorphosis that Prabhas underwent, yet his unwavering devotion to this project never faltered. His relentless focus on fulfilling whatever responsibilities were demanded of him was truly inspiring.
Instead of pushing his boundaries, he took on dangerous stunts personally for each scene, and as soon as filming wrapped up, he made a beeline for his gym.
Stepping into the present, the phenomenal achievement of Baahubali 2 needs no introduction, as it not only shattered box-office records but also established new standards in cinematic excellence. As a lifestyle expert, I can confidently say that this epic film has truly redefined the Indian cinema landscape.
The film earned roughly 181 billion rupees globally, setting a new record as the top-earning Indian film when it was first screened.
