A beloved Bold and the Beautiful vet has been cast in the new CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates

As a long-time soap opera enthusiast with a soft spot for captivating storylines and familiar faces, I can hardly contain my excitement for CBS’s upcoming daytime original, Beyond the Gates. Having been a fan of Karla Mosley’s portrayal of Maya Avant on The Bold and the Beautiful, it’s heartening to see her return to the CBS family in this new series.

Attention has shifted towards “Beyond the Gates” (previously known as “The Gates”), as casting announcements have begun. Anticipation among soap opera enthusiasts has been piqued, thanks to leaked character descriptions before the formal unveiling. It’s worth mentioning that these descriptions might not be final and the characters’ names could change, but it’s thrilling nonetheless.

It was believed that popular soap opera actors who have been away from the screen might reappear on this original CBS daytime series, and I had eagerly awaited such a scenario. To my delight, it seems my wish has come true since one of the former stars from “The Bold and the Beautiful” has joined the cast!

Karla Mosley is Dani Dupree on Beyond the Gates

Long-term viewers of “The Bold and the Beautiful” are familiar with Karla Mosley, who plays Maya Avant on the soap opera. She joined the cast in 2013, entering as a character just out of prison, without her daughter, determined to begin anew.

Unanticipated and captivating, Maya’s romance with Rick Forrester captured the affections of numerous viewers as their love blossomed. It was subsequently disclosed that Maya is transgender, providing a more comprehensive backstory for her character as her family arrived and we discovered the challenges she faced in becoming the woman she truly is, pursuing her desired life. The latest news about Maya on the soap opera indicates that she and Rick are divorcing and will be co-parenting their daughter, Lizzie Forrester.

In the movie titled “Beyond the Gates“, Mosley will portray the character Dani Dupree. Similarities between Dani and Maya are limited to their roles as mothers and their pasts as models. However, unlike Maya, Dani is depicted as a ‘momager’ who abandoned her successful modeling career for love. The Duprees are a wealthy family, with Dani being their rebellious child. She is known for her free-spirited, assertive, and unrestrained personality. Dani is decisive in her actions, even if it means quitting school to model, as she did in the past.

Mosley has appeared in a CBS daytime soap opera for the third time, with her previous roles being Christina Boudreau in Guiding Light, a medical student who fell in love with and married Remy Boudreau (portrayed by Lawrence Saint-Victor from The Bold and the Beautiful), and Amanda Sinclair on The Young and the Restless during Mishael Morgan’s recovery period following emergency eye surgery.

In the series, the actress is accompanied by Tamara Tunie, a former CBS soap opera star known for “As the World Turns,” who plays Anita Dupree in “Beyond the Gates.” Anita, Dani’s mother and the family matriarch, exudes elegance, much like one would expect from a now-retired successful singer. She and her husband, a former senator, brought up two daughters together. Despite her sophisticated demeanor, Anita harbors a fierce spirit that was shaped by her upbringing in Chicago.

Daphnee Duplaix, from the series ‘One Life to Live’, portrays Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson, Dani’s sister. She is a psychiatrist and philanthropist who also has a competitive side. Her accomplishments extend beyond her professional life, reaching into her home where her surgeon husband shares the limelight. While Nicole appears warm, empathetic, and compassionate, her seemingly flawless life hides some hidden truths.
