As a passionate fan, I’ve been eagerly waiting for updates on Nickelodeon’s upcoming Avatar franchise project. The wait is finally over as they unveiled “Seven Havens” in February! Now, at San Diego Comic Con, they’ve shared a first glimpse of the show featuring our main character Pavi, her pet Geet, and her mentor Jae. In the backdrop, we can see their homeland, Allura. I can hardly contain my excitement for this new journey in the Avatar universe!
It’s thrilling news that Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are set to return as the project leaders again. They were behind the creation of the original “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series and its spin-off “The Legend of Korra.” Given their past work, it’s reasonable to assume that “Seven Havens” is in capable hands. However, let me clarify what this show is about?
What We Know So Far
The story unfolds in a world ravaged by disaster following the events of “The Legend of Korra.” It seems that this destruction was somehow orchestrated by the late Avatar Korra, leading to her demise and chaos on Earth. As a result, humanity splintered into seven separate sanctuaries. One young earthbender, Pavi, discovers he is the new Avatar, but instead of being hailed as a savior, he is viewed as humanity’s destroyer due to the association with the previous Avatar’s actions.
Pavi finds herself pursued by humans and spectral beings. With her as she navigates this perilous journey are her mentor, a monkey companion, and her recently rediscovered twin brother or sister. It remains uncertain whether both twins possess the ability to manipulate earth, water, air, and fire. As they delve into their past and trace connections to the Avatar cycle, they strive to discover a method of preventing complete destruction when the Seven Sanctuaries crumble completely.
Interesting Visuals
Numerous viewers have commented on the series’ striking visuals. One might expect a post-apocalyptic scenario to appear drab and gloomy, yet this show exudes an enchanting and thrilling aesthetic that offers a delightful contrast to its setting. The creative team behind the series has openly expressed their desire to provide each installment in the franchise with a distinct visual style and ambiance.
The upcoming series titled “Seven Havens” is set to consist of 26 episodes, divided into two seasons. Consequently, this makes it the briefest installment in the Avatar franchise. As for a release date, it’s still unconfirmed, but there are other intriguing Avatar endeavors to look forward to. On October 9, 2026, an animated movie will debut, focusing on Aang and his companions as they’ve grown older, following the original series.
