Musk claims Tesla (TSLA) robotaxi will ‘probably’ serve half of the U.S. population by end of 2025

A significant advancement in Tesla’s operations involves the introduction and popularization of its autonomous taxi vehicles and services. This service has already been launched in certain areas of Texas, with intentions to expand into California soon. As per Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, there are ambitious plans for further expansion across the nation before the year ends. Musk also hinted that he anticipates the robotaxi service could potentially cater to nearly half of the U.S. population by the end of this year.

During a Tesla Q2 2025 earnings call, Elon Musk mentioned that their robotaxi service, currently operational in Austin, Texas with approval sought for San Francisco’s Bay Area and Arizona, could potentially expand nationwide by the end of 2025. He expressed optimism that the service would not only be available across the U.S., but also in numerous major American cities before this year ends.

One of Tesla’s main focuses has been the introduction of their robotaxi, as they advance in the field of autonomous driving innovations. The service and accompanying vehicles are operated without any human intervention beyond requesting a ride, yet this ongoing development has resulted in maintaining high vehicle prices.

It appears quite optimistic to predict that robotaxi services will be widely adopted by nearly half of the U.S. population by the year 2025; however, we’ll stay vigilant and look forward to any new developments. Keep an eye on Tesla news for further updates.
