Over two decades have passed since Disney’s remake of “The Parent Trap” hit screens, and at last, Lindsay Lohan has reconnected with some of her fellow actors from that beloved 1998 film during the grand premiere of Freakier Friday on the red carpet. The cherished family comedy saw Lohan portraying both Hallie Parker and Annie James, twin sisters who discovered their relationship while attending the same summer camp.

The Parent Trap stars attend Freakier Friday premiere
At the premiere of Freaky Friday, Lisa Ann Walter and Elaine Hendrix, who were in The Parent Trap, stood with Lindsay Lohan. In the original film, Wendie Malick from Abbott Elementary played Chessy, while Hendrix took on the character of Meredith Blake, the movie’s villain. Notably, Hendrix will also appear in the upcoming sequel to the cherished Freaky Friday movie.
On this occasion, let’s rephrase the given text in a more conversational style: Freaky Friday, directed by Nisha Ganatra (from Late Night), is a sequel to the original film written by Jordan Weiss based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 book of the same name. The story unfolds years after the events of the first film and includes several returning cast members. Jamie Lee Curtis portrays Tess, Mark Harmon plays Ryan, Chad Michael Murray is Jake, Christina Vidal Mitchell takes on Maddie, Haley Hudson plays Peg, Rosalind Chao embodies Pei-Pei, Lucille Soong portrays Pei-Pei’s mother, and Stephen Tobolowsky appears as Mr. Bates.
In the upcoming sequel, we’ll see some fresh faces joining the cast: Manny Jacinto (“The Good Place”), Sophia Hammons (“Up Here”), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (“Never Have I Ever”), and Julia Butters (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” “The Fabelmans”). The production is under the guidance of Curtis, Andrew Gunn, and Kristin Burr. Lohan, Nathan Kelly, and Ann Marie Sanderlin are the executive producers.
Freakier Friday is currently scheduled to make its debut on August 8, 2025.
