Naomi Ackie is being eyed to star in the Clayface movie.
An upcoming DC Universe movie titled Clayface is being helmed by director James Watkins. The script for this film has been penned by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. Acting as the main antagonist, Tom Rhys Harries will portray the iconic Batman foe. It’s yet to be determined if Batman himself will make an appearance in this movie.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, discussions are underway for Ackie to take on a role in Clayface. Last week, reading sessions were held in England, and it appears that Ackie is the top contender. It’s expected that formal negotiations will commence this week based on information from multiple sources.
It is not clear who Ackie is being eyed to play at this time.
Ackie has starred as Bonnie in “The End of the World” series and Alicia in “Master of None.” Her acting credits span from 2016’s “Lady Macbeth,” 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” 2022’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” upcoming releases like “Blink Twice” in 2024, “Mickey 17” and “Sorry, Babe” in 2025. You can catch her next month on Netflix in “The Thursday Murder Club.
What else do we know about Clayface?
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s article, the film’s narrative revolves around an up-and-coming actor whose face gets disfigured by a criminal. In desperation, he seeks aid from an unconventional scientist, reminiscent of Elizabeth Holmes. Initially, the experiment seems successful, but given that we’re talking about a horror movie, things don’t exactly go as planned.
The production for the upcoming Clayface film is slated to start within a few months. Previously, James Gunn, who’s overseeing the project, mentioned that the movie would carry an R-rating. Alongside Gunn, producers on this venture also include Lynn Harris, Peter Safran, and Matt Reeves.
On September 11, 2026, Clayface will make its appearance in U.S. cinemas, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios.
