Margot Robbie To Star in Tim Burton Remake of Beloved Sci-Fi Movie

Tim Burton has secured a top-tier actor as the lead for his new take on the 1958 sci-fi horror film, “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.

As a devoted follower of The InSneider newsletter, I’m thrilled to share that the captivating Margot Robbie is set to star in the remake of “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” under Warner Bros. production. Not only will she bring her magnetic charm to the screen, but she’ll also be producing this project through her own banner, LuckyChap. I can hardly wait!

What do we know about Margot Robbie & Tim Burton’s Attack of the 50 Foot Woman?

In the classic movie “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman,” Allison Hayes portrays Nancy Fowler Archer, a rich heiress who transforms into a colossal figure following an alien encounter. Nathan Hertz was the director, with Mark Hanna writing the screenplay. This film eventually gained cult status.

In February 2024, Deadline announced that Burton was planning to direct the updated version of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. At first, Gillian Flynn agreed to write the script for this project. However, due to her existing obligations, Flynn has had to step away from the task, leaving the writing duties for the next draft up for grabs.

Alongside Burton, Andrew Mittman of Wednesday, and Tommy Harper, Robbie and LuckyChap will collaborate in the production process. Kai Dolbashian will take on the role of executive producer.

Since the release of Barbie in 2023, which was both a commercial and critical success, earning eight Academy Award nominations and winning one for Best Original Song, Robbie has not taken the lead role in any film. Barbie was based on the iconic Mattel doll.

In the upcoming months, Robbie is set to feature in multiple films. Beginning on September 19, 2025, you’ll find Robbie sharing the screen with Colin Farrell in Kogonada’s film titled “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” which will be playing in cinemas.

In a simpler, more conversational style: Robbie plays both the lead role and produces the film adaptation of Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel, “Wuthering Heights.” This psychological drama with Gothic undertones is penned by Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Emerald Fennell. The cast includes Jacob Elordi, Owen Cooper, Shazad Latif, Hong Chau, and Alison Oliver. Catch this movie in theaters starting February 13, 2026.
