Qua Nilus II god roll and how to get it – Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate

In the expansion “The Edge of Fate” for Destiny 2, an array of fresh weapons and armor are introduced. The elusive Qua Nilus II, a Strand Submachine Gun, is one such addition that’s not easily obtained, but when you manage to secure it, you’ll crave specific optimal builds, or “god rolls,” to maximize its potential.

Qua Nilus II PvE god roll

For our Qua Nilus II PvE god roll, we’re focusing on its effectiveness when paired with a Strand-focused character setup. As a Submachine Gun, this weapon excels in handling large groups of enemies, and the more enemies we can eliminate, the better it syncs with Strand abilities and mods.

Qua Nilus II god roll – PvE
BarrelCorkscrew Rifling (+6 Range, Stability +6, Handling +5)
MagazineAccurized Rounds (Range +10)
Perk 1Slice (Using your class ability adds Sever to this weapon for eight seconds)
Perk 2Hatchling (Precision final blows or rapid standard final blows create a Threadling)
Origin TraitVanguard Determination (Final blows after using your class ability cause ramping damage resistance)
MasterworkRange (+10 when fully masterworked)
ModBallistics (Range +6, Stability +6)

By merging Slice and Hatchling, the Qua Nilus II acquires a simple method for producing Tangles and Threadlings. Threadlings, in particular, inflict Area of Effect Strand damage and will automatically target the closest enemy to detonate. As a result, the weapon’s impact extends beyond just the enemies you directly attack.

The selected features for the Magazine and Barrel of the Qua Nilus II – Corkscrew Rifling and Accurized Rounds – are designed to maximize its range, while the Corkscrew feature also improves its stability and handling for a more uniform performance overall.

Qua Nilus II PvP god roll

The Qua Nilus II may not revolutionize Player vs Player Submachine Guns, given the limited variety in its perk selection. However, it does offer some options that make it a viable choice.

Liminal Vigil god roll – PvE
BarrelCorkscrew Rifling (+6 Range, Stability +6, Handling +5)
MagazineAccurized Rounds (Range +10)
Perk 1Dynamic Sway Reduction (Holding down the trigger improves accuracy and stability)
Perk 2Swashbuckler (Melee and kills with this weapon grant a stacking damage bonus)
Origin Trait(Final blows after using your class ability cause ramping damage resistance)
MasterworkRange (+10 when fully masterworked)
ModBallistics (Range +6, Stability +6)

As a gamer, I’d rather have raw damage over class-specific abilities. The combo of Dynamic Sway Reduction and Swashbuckler really levels the battlefield against those who wield Crucible-optimized weapons.

In terms of traits, both The Other Magazine and Barrel for the Qua Nilus II are similar to those you’d find in PvE (Player versus Environment), as we’re focusing on range and control. Neither of these traits are particularly optimized for PvP (Player versus Player). However, Vanguard Determination is the more advantageous of the two Origin Traits. It’s straightforward to activate, and any additional damage resistance it provides is definitely worth having.

How to get Qua Nilus II

From my gaming perspective, I thought the Qua Nilus II was something you earned from Edge of Fate activities, but upon closer inspection, it’s actually a Portal activity world drop! Plus, there’s a chance you might also find it as high-probability loot if it’s the current Bonus Reward.

As a fan, I can tell you that you can acquire it by unlocking Portal Activity engrams from Hawthorne or any other source. Keep in mind that since it’s random, you won’t be flooded with them unless you specifically farm them when they’re available through a linked Portal activity.

In rapid sequence, I obtained three Qua Nilus II drops outside the Bonus Reward system, yet I was still engaged in the Portal playlists.
