What are people saying about The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
Initial responses have started pouring in about the new Marvel Studios film, as the social media embargo was lifted a bit earlier than planned. Fortunately for enthusiastic viewers, most of these initial reviews have been overwhelmingly favorable.
In my gaming world, First Steps felt like a triumphant comeback for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a return to the quality that made it an unbeatable powerhouse in the first place. The visuals were breathtakingly stunning – some of the best I’ve ever seen from Marvel!
The performances by actors like Paul Walter Hauser and Julia Garner truly shone in this movie. Their characters were captivating, adding depth and realism that elevated the storytelling to new heights.
Check out some of the early reactions to The Fantastic Four: First Steps below:
Initially, I arrived with a bit of grumpiness, but the Fantastic Four has remarkably brought Marvel Cinematic Universe back on track. The opening scenes in IMAX left me utterly amazed. The contributions of Gardner and Quinn particularly caught my attention. The inclusion of Galactus adds genuine tension to the movie, and his influence is palpable even when he’s not physically present – simply breathtaking miniature effects!

The Fantastic Four story primarily revolves around family dynamics, ensuring each team member’s significance is equally emphasized without neglecting any character. The film thrives in portraying the intricate relationships shared among Pedro, Vanessa, Ebon, and Joseph.
Moreover, the vintage ’60s style effectively complements the narrative on every level.

The Fantastic Four’s First Steps is visually one of Marvel’s finest creations. Some parts evoke the feeling of Interstellar, making an IMAX viewing a must.
Galactus is nothing short of amazing, and the Silver Surfer looks exceptionally well-designed. The visual effects were frequently flawless.
Matt Shakman served up a visually stunning spectacle, both in outer space and on Earth.

The Fantastic Four are absolutely amazing! Unlike any Marvel film before it, the Four truly embodies Jack Kirby’s creative vision on the silver screen. Given Superman’s recent success, 2025 could be remembered as the year when movies fully embrace the unique quirkiness inherent in comic books. (1/3)

I only have one complaint: Just like Superman, there are some rough computer-generated imagery (CGI) scenes involving babies that could potentially give you nightmares. It’s puzzling why animators find it difficult to create realistic babies, but I think it would be more convincing if the actors used a football wrapped in a blanket instead and pretended it was a baby.
