Warner Bros. recently unveiled a fresh behind-the-scenes video for the upcoming sequel to “Practical Magic,” featuring the dynamic duo of Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman coming together once again on set.

In the freshly released video, Bullock and Kidman are spotted laughing and playfully embracing each other as filming for the movie gets underway. Accompanying posts on social media rejoice at the return of the witches for the movie’s inaugural day on location.

What do we know about Practical Magic 2?

In simple terms, the movie “Practical Magic 2” is scheduled to be released on September 18, 2026. This information was shared along with an exciting social media post that showcases the main actresses’ names being magically summoned, followed by the release date.

At present, details regarding Practical Magic 2 are largely undisclosed, but it has been confirmed that Susanne Bier will take up directorial duties for the project, following earlier reports about her involvement in the film this year.

As of now, we only know that the upcoming film appears to be adapted from a later book in Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic series. The script for Practical Magic 2 has been written by Akiva Goldsman, who also contributed to the original movie’s screenplay. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are both involved as producers along with Denise Di Novi on this project.

Back in 1998, I stumbled upon this movie titled Practical Magic, an adaptation from Alice Hoffman’s novel of the same year. The story revolves around two magical sisters, the Owens’, who were fighting an unseen enemy – Gillian’s abusive boyfriend’s malevolent spirit. Critics didn’t shower it with praise initially, but over time, it garnered a dedicated fanbase that grew substantially after its release.

In the original movie, Sally (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Nicole Kidman), who come from a magical family, have generally stayed away from using magic. However, when Gillian’s abusive boyfriend, Jimmy Angelov (Goran Visnjic), suddenly passes away, the Owens sisters feel compelled to quickly learn powerful magic. As they attempt to resurrect Angelov, they inadvertently summon an evil spirit that could potentially destroy their family lineage. Meanwhile, police officer Gary Hallet (Aidan Quinn) starts becoming suspicious of their activities.

In addition to Bullock and Kidman, this movie featured the talents of Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing, and Aidan Quinn. The film was skillfully directed by Griffin Dunne based on a screenplay penned by Robin Swicord, Akiva Goldsman, and Adam Brooks.
