Creature Commandos Season 2 has received an unexpected update from James Gunn.
The first official project under Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU is titled Creature Commandos. This show, penned by Gunn himself, debuted on Max in December 2024. It boasts a talented voice cast consisting of Indira Varma as the Bride, Sean Gunn as G.I. Robot, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, Zoë Cato as Nina Mazursky, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.
What is the Creature Commandos Season 2 update?
The animated series Creature Commandos was quickly renewed for a second season following its debut, but updates about the production have been scarce ever since.
Initially, it was believed that Gunn would pen Creature Commandos 2 himself. However, he’s recently disclosed through Threads that this won’t be the case. Instead, a team of writers will collaborate on the show’s scripts, which could potentially lead to a swifter release date as they can work concurrently without having to align with Gunn’s schedule. This shift in creative direction might be a letdown for fans who appreciate Gunn’s writing style, but it offers the possibility of a faster premiere.
At the moment, there’s no confirmed premiere date for Creature Commandos Season 2 on HBO Max.
I couldn’t help but jump for joy when I heard about Season 2 of Creature Commandos! Working with Max on this project is a dream come true. From the explosive first season of Peacemaker to the captivating journey of The Penguin, and now breaking records with Creature Commandos, Max has consistently surpassed industry standards and exceeded even my wildest expectations. Can’t wait to see what we’ll create together!
Amy Gravitt of HBO commented, “It’s only James Gunn who could create this group of peculiar monster characters that tug at your heartstrings and make you fiercely cheer for them. We’re thrilled to keep telling their stories alongside James, Dean Lorey, Peter Safran, and our wonderful partners at DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation.
