The highly anticipated game known as “Ghost of Yotei” is slated for release on October 2nd. Reminiscent of “Ghost of Tsushima,” this upcoming title is generating significant buzz and appears to deliver on both world design and gameplay. As Sucker Punch works diligently to complete the game, co-creative director Nate Fox recently shared insights about it in an interview with Game Informer. In the course of this conversation, discussions touched upon their previous popular franchise, “InFamous.
The “InFamous” series is widely adored, placing you as a conduit – a person with extraordinary abilities – in a setting where such individuals are persecuted and pursued by the authorities. Throughout the game, you get to choose between a heroic or malevolent path. Sucker Punch unveiled the last installment in the series in 2014 with “InFamous Second Son” and its additional content “InFamous First Light.
Nate Fox expressed his desire to re-explore the world of Infamous, possibly through a trilogy re-release, but unfortunately, that’s not imminent. Currently, Sucker Punch is concentrating on their new project, Ghost of Yotei, which is truly praiseworthy and intriguing to consider.
One Game At A Time
It’s common for large game studios to work on multiple projects simultaneously, giving the impression of increased productivity. On the surface, this strategy allows fans of these studios to anticipate more than one game release, while the studio minimizes risk by having a fallback option if one game underperforms. However, delving deeper into the matter reveals that this approach comes with its own challenges. By spreading their development teams across multiple projects, it becomes difficult for the studios to effectively manage and oversee each project concurrently, potentially leading to issues in coordination and quality control.
The “one project at a time” approach taken by Sucker Punch has clearly proven effective, as each game they’ve developed under their studio has been successful. From the popular franchises like Sly Cooper and InFamous to the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, their work speaks for itself. As for future plans with InFamous, it remains to be seen. However, whatever comes after Ghost of Yotei will undoubtedly receive their undivided focus.
