Harry Potter HBO Show Has Genius Solution to Issue With Child Actors

Warner Bros. Discover is taking great measures to ensure that the young actors working on the set of the new Harry Potter TV series receive proper care and education.

How is the Harry Potter HBO show dealing with child actors’ education?

As stated by a report from BBC, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden – where the new television series is being produced – is constructing a temporary educational facility. This will enable the numerous child actors working on set to maintain their education and keep up with their schoolwork while they are filming the show.

The action was taken in collaboration with Three Rivers District Council, granting WB authorization to utilize a collection of portable structures as a temporary school site for the following ten years, as reported by BBC.

The school buildings are designed to accommodate up to 600 students at a time, but due to various factors, it’s expected to cater to approximately 150 students instead. The school will function on weekdays, with operating hours extending from 5:30am to 8:30pm. This allows actors to fit in some school time within their schedules, which may require night shooting or filming away from the primary production location.

The BBC’s report didn’t explicitly mention Harry Potter, but it did reveal that the buildings would be utilized for a major television series lasting up to ten years – a timeframe that aligns with the potential duration of an upcoming Harry Potter series.

The Harry Potter series, spanning over a decade, is planned to transform each book from J.K. Rowling’s renowned series into a season. This ambitious project will be helmed by Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout, portraying the beloved characters of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley respectively.

In addition to the main cast, the Harry Potter television series features several notable actors in key roles: John Lithgow portrays Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer steps into Minerva McGonagall’s shoes, Paapa Essiedu takes on Severus Snape, Nick Frost plays Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon embodies Quirinus Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse portrays Argus Filch, Katherine Parkinson is Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt depicts Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn assumes Lucius Malfoy’s character, Leo Earley plays Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni acts as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah portrays Lavender Brown, Bel Powley is Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby takes on Vernon Dursley, and Bertie Carvel appears as Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic.

At the moment, it’s uncertain who else will join the cast, but there are whispers about possible additional actors, even mentioning characters like Voldemort. Further casting details should be revealed at a later time.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming series is being crafted by the talented Emmy-winning producer Francesca Gardiner, known for her work on Killing Eve and Succession. She, along with Mark Mylod, Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman, who has been a long-time Harry Potter franchise producer, are the executive producers of this project.

Interestingly, Mylod, who has previously worked on HBO’s Game of Thrones and The Last of Us, will be directing multiple episodes as well. This production is a joint venture between HBO, Brontë Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television. Can’t wait to see what magic they’ll weave!
