In the latest installment of the Question Everything podcast, Braun, at 44 years old, made it clear that he has always doubted Taylor Swift’s claims that her song “Vigilante Shit” was written about him and his recent divorce.
Braun clarified to Danielle Robay that he talks to Yael daily, indicating a strong bond with Cohen despite their past marriage. He referred to his ex-wife as one of his dearest friends and humorously added that they don’t use the term “ex” between them. Instead, he considers her like a partner and the mother of his children.
Even Braun showed off a tattoo on his finger, which says “same team.” This inkwork represents their unbreakable connection, as he put it, “We’re on the same team for life.
For those not familiar, the song by the vigilante has lines that fans quickly connected to Cohen’s personal life. The lyrics read: “She needed cold hard proof so I gave her some, she had the envelope, where do you think she got it from? Now she gets the house, gets the kids, gets the pride. Picture me thick as thieves with your ex-wife.” Given that this track came out during Cohen’s divorce proceedings, many fans perceived these lyrics as Swift taking Cohen’s side and casting shade at Braun.
Instead, Braun rejected those beliefs, clarifying that what struck him deeply was not the turmoil in the music industry but his marriage falling apart. “Even with a thriving career, an ideal spouse, a perfect life, children, and success,” he mused, “I believed it made me deserving of love. It wasn’t until our marriage disintegrated, and I couldn’t repair it that I felt like a failure because I lacked a solid foundation.
