Recently, Kevin James has sparked excitement among fans by suggesting that Grown Ups 3 may finally become a reality after much discussion over the years. In a recent interview, he revealed that talks about the project are happening quietly, implying progress on the stalled comedy sequel and offering reasons for supporters to remain optimistic.
Kevin James says something is happening with Grown Ups 3
When discussing his film Guns Up with The Direct, Kevin James expressed optimism, saying, “I believe there have been talks about it. And I’m quite hopeful. I can confidently say that I would maintain a lot of hope. I think it’s moving forward—something is happening. I can assure you of that.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that we’re finally getting some solid news about the franchise’s progress after years of waiting! The original Grown Ups movies from 2010 and 2013 featured Kevin James, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and David Spade. Despite mixed reviews from critics, they managed to build a dedicated fanbase and maintain a robust streaming platform.
The actors are showing keenness for a comeback, but as of now, the formal production details are still undecided. It’s worth mentioning that these discussions involve Columbia Pictures, a subsidiary of Sony. As for the script and shooting schedule, they haven’t been set yet.
2019 saw comedian Tom Scharpling pen a hypothetical screenplay for Grown Ups 3, which he then made public, proclaiming it as “the pinnacle of his career.” Although not an authorized production, the script sparked interest among enthusiasts online.
At the moment, Adam Sandler is actively publicizing the upcoming release of “Happy Gilmore 2” on Netflix, which will be available soon. Additionally, he’s involved in numerous other ventures, such as teaming up with George Clooney, Noah Baumbach, and Josh Safdie on various projects.
If production for Grown Ups 3 starts soon, we can expect the movie to hit theaters anywhere from late 2026 to early 2027. Unfortunately, this upcoming installment will be the first one without Cameron Boyce, who played Adam Sandler’s son and tragically passed away in 2019 at just 20 years old.
Both Grown Ups films are available to stream on Netflix.
