Supergirl Poster Gives Hilarious First Look at Milly Alcock’s DCU Movie

James Gunn, CEO of DC Studios, unveiled the initial poster for the eagerly awaited Supergirl film in the DC Universe. Following the recent cinematic release of Superman, spectators who have already watched the movie got a sneak peek at Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl. This unexpected appearance offers fans an inkling of what to anticipate from the upcoming movie about the Girl of Steel in the DC Universe.

Who is seen in the Supergirl poster?

The poster displays Supergirl (Alcock) in a long, chocolate-brown trench coat layered over her suit, suggesting her character’s unique vibe. Additionally, it playfully reinterprets Superman’s famous DC Universe slogan “Look Up,” which appears to foreshadow the turmoil and disorder she might introduce into the DCU.

From her unexpected appearance in Superman, it’s clear that the portrayal of Alcock will deviate from earlier live-action renditions of this beloved superhero character. Before Alcock, the role was previously played by Melissa Benoist in the Arrowverse television shows on The CW, and Sasha Calle in the 2023 Flash film.

“The upcoming movie ‘Supergirl’ is helmed by Craig Gillespie and penned by Ana Nogueira, inspired by the Woman of Tomorrow comic book series written by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely in 2021-2022. The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, with Jason Momoa expected to feature as Lobo. This film is scheduled for a theater release on June 26, 2026.”

As stated by Gunn, the forthcoming film presents an alternative portrayal of Supergirl compared to her relative Superman, hinting at a grittier or tougher interpretation of the character that deviates from traditional depictions.

Gunn stated that those aspects are crucial to both characters and their distinct personalities. He emphasized that Clark had a particularly joyful childhood, thanks to loving parents who provided him with a laid-back upbringing. This makes Clark less troubled among superheroes in many ways. On the other hand, Supergirl, especially the one from the DCU, is quite complex. She has faced numerous challenges growing up, as she witnessed countless deaths while her home planet was destroyed.
