On July 15, I had the incredible opportunity to be on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and I couldn’t help but share an amazing moment that happened during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in 2023. As fate would have it, I was standing close to the stage alongside my co-creator from The Summer I Turned Pretty, Jenny Han.
When Taylor Swift spotted us, she gave a friendly wave and said, “I love you guys!” It was such an unforgettable moment that I nearly fainted with excitement. Needless to say, it was absolutely amazing!
Fans familiar with The Summer I Turned Pretty series will notice that this instance holds a special connection not only for Tung as a Swiftie, but because Taylor Swift’s music has been a significant part of the show since its first season. As the actress explained, “We were standing very close to the stage when she performed ‘False God,’ which was also featured in the series.
As a dedicated fan myself, I can’t help but echo Tung’s sentiments when Fallon asked her about her favorite Taylor Swift track from the series. It truly is a challenge to pick just one! “The Way I Loved You” and “Delicate” are two that stand out for me. Fun fact: even before the show, Taylor Swift’s music held a special place in my heart. I vividly remember playing Fearless, Speak Now, and Red on my CD player as a youngster, drifting off to sleep with her melodies.
In the upcoming third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, airing on Amazon Prime Video starting July 16, music enthusiasts will notice an increased presence of Taylor Swift’s songs within the narrative. Already showcased in the trailer are “Daylight” from her album Lover and a track titled after another one of her albums, Red.
