JimmyTotheo, our very own, watched “The Naked Gun” and offered this opinion:
“Reflections? Wow, ‘The Naked Gun’ is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a while! Liam Neeson is spot-on as Frank Drebin Jr., and the comedic dynamic between him and Pamela Anderson is delightful.

After watching The Naked Gun, it feels as if they’re recreating the original vibe! This movie is filled with hilarious gags that clearly demonstrate the makers’ enthusiasm for crafting a genuine comedy film. #TheNakedGunRevival

‘The Naked Gun’ is delightfully idiotic, and I mean this as the greatest praise. It truly embodies the essence of the Leslie Nielsen films that I cherished growing up. #NakedGunRevisited

I hold the first NAKED GUN in high esteem and I’m thrilled to say that the latest installment is superb! It would be only fair if Liam Neeson received an Academy Award for his performance. From start to finish, it’s both smart and side-splittingly funny.

The film “The Naked Gun” is led by Akiva Schaffer from the comedy group The Lonely Island (known for “Hot Rod”), who has been in charge of the remake since 2022. Joining Liam Neeson in the cast are Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and Eddie Yu, with Danny Huston. Schaffer collaborated on the script with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. Additionally, Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins from Fuzzy Door are producers, while Daniel M. Stillman, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary serve as executive producers.
The 1988 film was a follow-up to the 1982 Police Squad!, with Nielsen reprising his character as Detective Sergeant Frank Drebin. This movie led to two more installments in the series: The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) and Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994).
