PS Plus is soon getting exciting Half-Life inspired day-one release that has “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam

For July 2025, Sony has expanded PS Plus Extra and Premium with numerous new games. Among them is the lesser-known Banishers Ghost of New Eden, which has recently been updated with a PS5 Pro patch to enhance its graphics and performance. While the July additions for both tiers are intriguing, there’s even more excitement as PS Plus is set to launch another highly anticipated day-one release that draws inspiration from Half-Life and boasts overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam.

PS Plus is soon getting day-one release with “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam

Starting from July 8th, Sony prematurely launched Cyberpunk 2077, and has since made all other titles available for PS Plus Extra and Premium this month. However, there’s one more game yet to come for Extra subscribers – the day-one release of Abiotic Factor, scheduled to join PS Plus Extra on July 22nd.

Today marks another initial launch for Sony’s subscription service, similar to FBC Firebreak released in June. The game, titled Abiotic Factor, is a survival multiplayer experience that can be enjoyed by one to six players.

The game’s premise is reminiscent of Half-Life, setting you within GATE, a secretive underworld research facility. After an unexpected breach, the facility transforms into a chaotic cosmic battlefield. You and your comrades must navigate through this perilous environment, battling against various threats such as aliens, soldiers, and robots to ensure your survival.

You’ll find six distinct PhD scientists to select from in this game, and your mission is to design extraordinary weapons and equipment to help you thrive. There are various locations to forage, ranging from empty offices to laboratories, making the game an exciting cooperative survival adventure that seems incredibly fun!

Despite its official release on July 22nd, the game has been accessible through Steam Early Access since May 2024. On this platform, it’s received an “overwhelmingly positive” response, with players appreciating its resemblance to Half-Life and enjoying its entertaining gameplay.

Alongside Abiotic Factor, the PS Plus Extra lineup will also feature a new day-one release in August called “Sword of the Sea.” This game is particularly beloved by former PlayStation president, Shuhei Yoshida, who named it his favorite at Summer Game Fest 2025.

For more PlayStation news, Rockstar Support may have accidentally leaked a GTA 4 port.
