A new update regarding the DCU Clayface movie has emerged online.
After the unveiling of Superman, DC enthusiasts are now looking forward to several other forthcoming DC Universe ventures slated for 2026, such as Supergirl and Clayface. Notably, the Clayface film is being helmed by James Watkins and features Tom Rhys Harries in the lead role portraying the main antagonist of Batman.
It’s anticipated that the filming of Clayface will commence this upcoming fall. The planned release date for the movie is set for September 2026.
What is the new update on the Clayface DCU movie?
As reported by Nexus Point News, Rhys Harries has been cast as Matt Hagen in the upcoming Clayface film. In this role, he will embody a character that combines aspects of Hagen’s storyline with those of Basil Karlo’s background.
The article on Nexus Point News states that Hagen, a rising star in the acting world, was once handsomely appealing but has been brutally attacked and disfigured. Born in Gotham, he sought refuge in Hollywood to leave behind his turbulent past and establish himself as an actor. Unfortunately, his disfigurement led to the demise of his acting career, ultimately resulting in him morphing into a monster with shapeshifting abilities.
Additionally, it is noted that a fresh character called Dr. Caitlin Bates is going to make an appearance in the upcoming Clayface film.
According to the article, Bates, who’s the CEO of a groundbreaking biotech company, views Hagen as a means to expand her business and treat his health issue. As they work together, she develops feelings for him, causing her fiancé John, a dedicated detective, to become suspicious of their bond. In the movie, the villain will likely be a criminal mastermind, who, like Caitlin and John, is an original character.
As reported by Nexus Point News, this upcoming movie won’t include any well-known DC Universe characters. Instead, it’s set to focus on unique characters for a chilling tale that emphasizes character development within the horror genre.
Currently, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures have scheduled the release of Clayface on September 11, 2026.
