Harry Potter TV Show Gets Set Photo, Casts Neville, Dudley, & More

The initial photograph for the HBO television adaptation of Harry Potter has been released, revealing the appearance of the young Harry Potter character in the forthcoming series.

The first picture from the series starts here, featuring Dominic McLaughlin in his Potter costume. In this photo, you can see McLaughlin holding up a clapperboard for the production crew while dressed as Potter. Take a look at the image below:

Additionally, along with the provided image, Warner Bros. unveiled that the series is expected to premiere in the year 2027. They also shared further details about the cast for this upcoming production.

Who are joining the Harry Potter TV show cast?

Rory Wilmot is now part of the cast, taking on the character Neville Longbottom; Amos Kitson steps into the shoes of Dudley Dursley; Louise Brealey has been chosen to portray Madam Rolanda Hooch; and Anton Lesser will bring Garrick Ollivander to life in this production.

The Harry Potter series is referred to as a “long-term” undertaking, where each season aims to bring to life one of J.K. Rowling’s beloved books. The trio of Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will be taking on the roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley respectively.

As I team up with this group, let me tell you who’s joining us in this Harry Potter series. John Lithgow steps into Albus Dumbledore’s shoes, while Janet McTeer portrays Minerva McGonagall. Paapa Essiedu brings Severus Snape to life, and Nick Frost gives Rubeus Hagrid a unique touch. Luke Thallon takes on the role of Quirinus Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse plays Argus Filch, Katherine Parkinson becomes Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt embodies Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn is Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley portrays Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni acts as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah plays Lavender Brown, Bel Powley takes on Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby becomes Vernon Dursley, and Bertie Carvel assumes the role of the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge.

At present, it’s undecided who else will join the cast, but there are whispers about additional possibilities, such as who might play Voldemort. Further details about the cast are expected to be revealed at a later time.

As an eager fan, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming HBO series is being masterfully penned by Emmy-winning producer Francesca Gardiner, known for her exceptional work on Killing Eve and Succession. This series boasts a stellar lineup of executive producers, with Gardiner at the helm, alongside Mark Mylod, J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman, a longtime producer in the Harry Potter franchise. Notably, Mylod, who has previously collaborated with HBO on Game of Thrones and The Last of Us, will be directing multiple episodes as well. This production is a joint effort between HBO, Brontë Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television. I simply can’t wait to see what magic this team brings to life!
