Superman’s David Corenswet Reveals MCU Character He Auditioned For

Prior to taking on the role of Superman in the DC Universe, it’s interesting to know that David Corenswet had previously auditioned for a part within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What MCU role did David Corenswet audition for?

More recently, in a fun video on BuzzFeed featuring the main Superman cast interacting with puppies alongside James Gunn, Corenswet shared an interesting tidbit: he had tried out for a role in James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, set to release in 2023.

In “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, as shared by Corenswet, it was revealed that he was the one who auditioned for the role of Adam Warlock. He mentioned this as a memorable moment since it seemed to be his initial audition within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Initially, Adam Warlock’s role was intended for Corey Swiet but eventually fell to Will Poulter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Meanwhile, Swiet has stepped up as the primary cast member for the new DC Universe (DCU), setting him on a path to play Superman across multiple upcoming DC Studios films.

The first feature film from DC Studios, “Superman,” is set to fly into cinemas globally this summer, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures. As per the official synopsis, director James Gunn reimagines the classic superhero within a fresh DC universe, combining spectacular action, humor, and emotion. The new Superman portrays a character motivated by compassion and an unwavering faith in humanity’s goodness.

In the lead roles are David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, with Isabela Merced portraying Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.
