Don’t Bother Staying for the Superman Post-Credit Scenes

Currently, the movie featuring Superman is playing in cinemas, and although fans have been delighted with the initial installment in the DC Universe, several of them express dissatisfaction with the post-credit sequences in James Gunn’s latest production.

Why viewers are criticizing Superman post-credit scenes

The latest film is reminiscent of numerous previous comic book/superhero movies, as it has more than one scene after the credits. Since this is the initial venture into the DC Universe by Gunn and DC Studios, many spectators expected a significant or crucial event to take place in either of these two scenes.

Rather than serving as separate stories after the credits, both post-credit scenes function more like bonus footage from the main film. Specifically, the mid-credits scene provides a charming wink to Superman and Krypto’s bond, while the final one serves merely as an additional scene that connects back to the movie’s conclusion.

Although these sequences are integral to the movie and aren’t inherently poor, some viewers found themselves slightly disappointed by their overall impact. Given that Marvel Studios has historically used post-credit scenes to tease upcoming events (particularly during the early stages of the MCU, with Thanos making frequent appearances), it was expected that something akin to this would occur in the case of Superman.

As a dedicated gamer and comic book enthusiast, I eagerly anticipated not just a hint of the future Justice League adventure or a sneak peek into Supergirl’s upcoming storyline. However, as we all know, James Gunn has a knack for keeping his movies self-contained, refraining from using post-credits scenes to tease future projects – even in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Instead, he prefers to let each movie shine independently without any hints of what’s coming next.

I’m grateful Superman doesn’t face that issue, but it would have been intriguing to catch a glimpse of what was hidden behind the scenes regarding the planned DC Universe. For now, we’ll need to be patient to discover what Gunn and his team have up their sleeves.
