David Corenswet Reveals Dream Movie He’d Choose Over Superman 2

Actor David Corenswet, who’s made his mark in the DC Universe, has hinted at wanting a role in another big franchise – Star Wars. Intriguingly, he prefers taking up the Jedi path instead of reprising Superman for a potential Superman 2 film. Before joining the DCU, he graced screens on shows such as The Politician, Hollywood, We Own This City, and Lady in the Lake.

Why did David Corenswet chose Star Wars over Superman 2?

In an interview for Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Test, co-star Nicholas Hoult posed a tough question to Corenswet: he had to pick between reprising the role of Superman in the sequel or starring as a Jedi Knight in Star Wars. After pausing thoughtfully, Corenswet unexpectedly opted for the Jedi Knight part, electing not to play Superman again, which left Hoult astonished by his candid response.

When questioned about whether that was his most difficult choice, Corenswet acknowledged that it was one of the toughest, yet he added that he had already signed a contract for a possible Superman 2 project.

Ultimately, it boiled down to financial matters. Although I’ve already signed a contract for a sequel, I’d enjoy renegotiating terms with Star Wars, he quipped humorously.

During Superman’s media interviews, Corenswet has openly expressed his affection for Star Wars. In the same conversation, he admitted to initiating a customary Star Wars movie marathon each New Year’s Eve.

James Gunn helmed the production of Superman, a film that draws inspiration from the DC characters crafted by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. In this adaptation, Corenswet portrays both Superman and Clark Kent; Rachel Brosnahan steps into the role of Lois Lane, while Skyler Gisondo takes on Jimmy Olsen. Wendell Pierce becomes Perry White, Mikaela Hoover assumes the role of Cat Grant, Beck Bennett appears as Steve Lombard, María Gabriela de Faría is The Engineer, Sara Sampaio portrays Eve Teschmacher, Anthony Carrigan embodies Metarmorpho, Frank Grillo plays Rick Flag Sr., Edi Gathegi and Isabela Merced star as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion is Green Lantern, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell are Jonathan and Martha Kent respectively. The supporting cast includes Alan Tudyk, Michael Rooker, and Grace Chan. Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars Winther serve as executive producers for this production.

Superman is now in theaters worldwide.
