Movie Review: Superman

I was quite taken aback by the poor quality of the recently released “Superman” movie, despite all the buzz and discussions on talk shows. The narrative seems disjointed, lacking a clear and logical sequence. Characters appear and disappear without proper introduction or context within this poorly scripted screenplay. For instance, Lois Lane is already in a relationship with Superman, eliminating any suspense about Clark Kent’s true identity. The recurring gimmick of removing glasses to reveal the superhero feels outdated and preposterous. The Superman costume, featuring tights and red underwear, hasn’t evolved much since its debut in 1938, which one might expect would be less embarrassing for the actor after all these years.

In the newly released Superman film, several other superheroes make an appearance, such as Green Lantern portrayed by Nathan Fillion, Mister Terrific acted by Edi Gathego, Metamorpho brought to life by Anthony Carrigan, Hourwoman played by Isabela Merced in a minor role, and The Engineer portrayed by Maria Gabriela de Faria. It remains unclear as to why most of these characters, with such limited screen time, were included in the movie, given that Green Lantern and Mister Terrific are the exceptions.
