David Corenswet talks about James Gunn and their work
The Twisters star is dishing on his unconventional relationship with the DC co-CEO.
In an interview with GQ, David Corenswet shared that a strong creative bond quickly developed between them. On the other hand, James Gunn has complimented their unique partnership, describing it as a “beautiful connection” as they breathe new life into the Man of Steel for the big screen.
In a nutshell, Corenswet stated, “James and I seem to be perfectly suited for one another in many aspects,” and he elaborated on how they both breathed life into Superman. The 32-year-old actor revealed Gunn’s unique approach to directing, explaining that he tends to loudly give specific instructions to the cast while the camera is filming.
Additionally, Corenswet mentioned that this method worked well for him due to his lack of certainty about his actions. He further stated, “I’m in dire need of a director. I require someone who knows their vision and isn’t afraid to express it boldly, without excessive politeness or beating around the bush. If I’m not up to par, tell me so straight-up, and then let’s collaborate on improving my skills.
James Gunn shared insights about his rapport with David Corenswet, explaining that David isn’t typically “emotionally expressive.” Gunn noted, “Our relationship is quite unique in a charming manner, as I’m accustomed to being very empathetic towards actors due to the nature of their work. However, David doesn’t share this trait. He’s not emotionally sensitive like most actors tend to be.
Additionally starring Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult, the upcoming movie titled Superman will premiere in cinemas on July 11, 2025.
