Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers to be discontinued next year

During the time of the Nintendo Switch, game vouchers were introduced as a method for gamers to save money on eShop games. However, this practice is set to change, as Nintendo has announced that they will cease the sale of Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers starting in January 2026.

Nintendo has made an announcement in their FAQ section stating that they are ceasing the production of Switch Game Vouchers as of January 30, 2026. After this date, it will no longer be possible to buy these vouchers. However, any players who currently possess a voucher can still utilize them until one year after their purchase date. Consequently, the final day that Switch Game Vouchers can be redeemed is January 30, 2027.

2019 marked the debut of Nintendo Switch Game Coupons, designed to help gamers economize when purchasing digital Switch titles from the eShop. Each coupon pack, priced at $99.99, included two vouchers that could be exchanged for any two qualifying games, making it a practical method to save approximately $20 on popular AAA games, which were typically sold for $59.99 in Nintendo’s digital store.

Nintendo intends to keep offering Switch Vouchers until their expiration in 2027, and might even introduce additional eligible games after they cease producing vouchers in 2026. In the interim, players have ample time to utilize this program before it’s formally discontinued.
