Past Lives & Tron: Ares Star’s Directorial Debut Is a Serial Killer Horror Movie

As a fellow gaming enthusiast and aspiring actor, I’ve been keeping an eye on Greta Lee’s remarkable journey in the entertainment world. She kicked things off with supporting roles on TV shows, but really shone when she took center stage in Past Lives. Soon enough, this talented American actress will be flexing her directorial muscles for a chilling serial killer film. Exciting times ahead!

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Greta Lee has had the opportunity to step through many doors in her acting career. Starting with a guest role on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Lee made her Broadway debut in the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Since then, she’s continued to gain momentum as a supporting actress in shows such as Russian Doll and The Morning Show.

Greta Lee’s life took an unexpected turn when she was given the role in Past Lives. At first, she wasn’t chosen for Celine Song’s film, but later changes in casting brought the Primetime Emmy nominee back into the picture. The rest, as they say, is history. Notably, Past Lives was nominated for Best Picture at the 96th Academy Awards. Additionally, it earned five nominations at the 81st Golden Globes, with Lee being one of them for Best Actress.

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, it’s been announced that Greta Lee will be stepping into the role of a director for the first time, working on a chilling serial killer film, in addition to her upcoming appearances in Tron: Ares and Late Fame.

Greta Lee’s directorial debut project

Greta Lee will contribute her creative perspective and screenwriting talent to the serial killer film titled “The Eyes Are the Best Part.” This movie is based on Monika Kim’s psychological horror novel and is being adapted by Searchlight Pictures. The story revolves around a Korean-American college student whose family experiences turmoil when her father leaves following an affair, leading to Ji-won feeling compelled to act violently due to her mother’s abusive boyfriend who harbors racist and misogynistic views.

Admirers highly praised Monika Kim’s feminist horror novel for its portrayal. The New York Times lauded the book’s terrifying depiction of murder and cannibalism while also acknowledging its commentary on misogyny, delving into Asian fetishization and stereotypes.

Jackson House is set to create a psychological horror film. They have previously worked on titles such as “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, “The Trial of the Chicago 7”, and “Molly’s Game”. Collaborating with them on this project will be Lulu Wang and Dani Melia, who have previous credits including “The Farewell” and “Expats”.

Given Greta Lee’s exceptional acting skills, it’s exciting to anticipate how brilliantly her directorial and screenwriting abilities will come to light in the upcoming project, The Eyes Are the Best Part.
