Call of Duty: WW2 pulled from Microsoft Store following hacking reports

Just over a week ago, Call of Duty: WW2 was made available on Xbox Game Pass library for both PC and consoles. However, its publisher, Activision, has temporarily shut down the game’s servers due to an influx of hacking incidents reported by many players while using the Windows Store/PC Game Pass version. The game is now offline while they investigate these security concerns.

On June 30, 2025, Call of Duty: WW2 became available on the Game Pass library. In the days following its release, numerous players expressed concerns about being hacked while playing the first-person shooter. One user posted a screenshot showing their desktop wallpaper had been altered by a hacker, and another reported receiving an in-game message stating they’d been compromised.

Over the holiday weekend, it was reported by the Call of Duty Updates X team that they were temporarily taking down the game for maintenance to investigate a problem. This problem seems to specifically impact the version of Call of Duty: WW2 available through the Windows Store and PC Game Pass, as other versions like the console and Steam editions appear to be functioning normally.

2017 saw the release of Call of Duty: WW2, a game developed by Sledgehammer Games. Now, as Microsoft has taken over publisher Activision, this World War II-themed Call of Duty game is making its way to Game Pass.
