2025 finds me eagerly anticipating my trip to CEDEC, Japan’s grand gathering for game development enthusiasts, happening from July 22nd through the 24th. This annual event serves as a melting pot for experts from top video game companies worldwide, exchanging cutting-edge technical insights. In this year’s lineup, Capcom has some exciting plans up their sleeve – they’re set to contribute significantly and even organize various sessions, with Monster Hunter Wilds being one of the key case studies on their agenda. Can’t wait!
Nevertheless, the creators of Monster Hunter Wilds have faced threats that they deemed serious enough, leading some team members to decline participation in public gatherings.
Monster Hunter Wilds Developers Face Threats After Troubled PC Launch
According to Automaton-Media, Capcom chose to pull out of CEDEC because of some threatening situations. While the specific reasons behind this move remain undisclosed, it’s suspected that harmful remarks were aimed at Capcom’s staff members.
Apart from expressing gratitude for player input, Capcom has spoken up about their anti-harassment policy. They’ve shared that their team members have faced harassment via customer service channels and social media. Moreover, they’ve made it clear they are prepared to take legal steps to safeguard their employees.
It’s important to mention that Monster Hunter Wilds encountered some criticism upon its PC launch, primarily due to technical problems related to optimization. Currently, about 88% of recent Steam reviews are highly negative. In response, the developers have acknowledged these issues and worked on enhancing performance, however, the overall community feedback has remained mostly unaltered.
esXX’s review of Monster Hunter Wilds gave it a score of 9 out of 10, stating, “Monster Hunter Wilds is a great entry in a fantastic franchise. While there are a lot of mechanics to consider, the game’s tutorials should help most new players to quickly acclimate and join the upper ranks of hunters in no time.”
Meanwhile, it’s confirmed that Mega Man continues to hold a significant place in Capcom’s intellectual properties, as there haven’t been any new games added since 2018.
