Once more, it’s time for a brand-new Hearthstone expansion that blends the old with the new – The Year of the Raptor carries on with Hearthstone: The Lost City of Un’Goro, a spiritual successor to the Journey to Un’Goro set. This latest expansion introduces 145 cards across all 11 classes and reintroduces some classic mechanics alongside fresh ones, including a host of new Quest cards.
Today marks the arrival of The Lost City of Un’Goro, which means it’s time once again to explore decks from Hearthstone’s most renowned experts and broadcasters. Recently, Shacknews got a chance to test these decks out in a Hearthstone Theorycrafting session. Excitingly, this writer fared much better than in past sessions! Additionally, I picked up some new insights about intriguing decks ideal for the initial day of play. So, let’s pass on some of that fresh information to you, dear reader.
Without further delay, here are some decks worth trying out on day one of The Lost City of Un’Goro.

Deck ID
The initial significant mission is assigned by the Shaman and it’s definitely intriguing. This assignment involves utilizing diverse types of minions, specifically seeking out unique ones with potent abilities such as the Observer of Mysteries and Gorgonzormu. Once found, these powerful minions should be strategically deployed. The objective is to acquire Ashalon, a reward that grants two permanent adaptations on all future minions. Since we’re dealing with Shaman, it’s only natural to aim for more than just the basics. With Shudderblock in play, the number of adaptations could triple, potentially leading to an unstoppable offensive later in the game.

Deck ID

The new Druid Quest revolves around filling the battlefield and utilizing the Quest reward to fortify friendly minions to invincible degrees. Filling up the battlefield appears simpler than it seems, thanks to cards like Skyscreamer Eggs, Distress Signal, and Flipper Friends, so brace yourself for a board teeming with buffed-up allies using the Quest weapon and other supportive friends such as Hatchery Helper.

- 1x (10) Tortolla
Deck ID
Portuguese streamer Big House is preparing to make a daring move with the Quest Warrior. On paper, the Quest Warrior might not seem impressive due to its requirement for the Warrior to last 10 turns in an environment where aggressive decks are gaining popularity. However, the Warrior possesses several control abilities such as Latorvian Armorer, Axe of the Forefathers, and City Defenses.
Employing tools such as New Heights will prove vital since exiting Tortolla early will significantly contribute to meeting the Quest requirement. Wishing you success, for the Murlocs are approaching, as we’ll discuss soon.

Deck ID
Hi there! I’m curious about how Marvel Snap content creator KM Best ended up here. It turns out he’s delving into Hearthstone as well now and found an intriguing Death Knight deck that doesn’t rely on the latest Death Knight Quest. If you too are a returning player, this less conventional deck might pique your interest.
In essence, the plan was to repeatedly resurrect Eliza Goreblade with some fresh tools from this update. However, it didn’t turn out as planned for them. But hey, I found it quite entertaining just observing it, so you might find it enjoyable while playing it too.

- 2x (5) Sleet Skater
- 2x (7) Relic of Kings
- 1x (8) Kalecgos
Deck ID
RegisKillbin has once again found delight in utilizing the Mage character, thanks to the latest Mage Quest. The weapon obtained upon completing this quest enables players to retain a Discover card while playing the other two, which can result in substantial advantages when employing cards like Relic of Kings and Pocket Dimension. If your deck starts becoming cluttered, take advantage of the new Story of the Waygate spell to ease the burden and set the stage for impactful turns.

- 1x (9) Fyrakk the Blazing
Deck ID
Ruin, and Lightbomb serve as effective tools against larger minions. This setup paves the way for the reward from The Priest’s Quest, which is quite substantial considering it only costs 5 mana.
MarkMcKz’s Quest Warlock

- 1x (4) Razidir
- 1x (4) Summoner Darkmarrow
- 1x (7) Kil’jaeden
Deck ID
MarkMcKz wasn’t completely captivated by the latest Warlock Quest, but anticipates potential improvements in the future. Perhaps we should familiarize ourselves with it starting today. The strategy involves utilizing Temporary cards to activate the Quest, followed by relying on Temporary minions and Kil’jaeden for the remainder of the game. If everything falls into place, the stats could become overpowering. So, remember to work quickly.
Warshack’s Quest Rogue
- 2x (0) Preparation
- 2x (0) Shadowstep
- 2x (1) Knockback
- 1x (1) Lie in Wait
- 2x (1) Merchant of Legend

- 1x (6) Opu the Unseen
- 1x (7) Incindius
- 1x (7) Marin the Manager
- 2x (7) Underbrush Tracker
Deck ID
In this expansion, the Rogue has summoned a horde of ninjas. The Quest associated with the Rogue enables ninjas to return to your own deck, which seems beneficial. Having three-health, stealth ninjas isn’t too disadvantageous, but take another look at the new Hero Power effect for this Quest. It permits the Rogue to pull two cards not originally in their deck, a feature that synergizes well with other cards such as Moonstone Mauler, Incindius, and Marin the Manager. While you might engage due to the ninjas, the real charm of this deck lies in drawing additional cards.
MartianBuu’s Quest Demon Hunter
- 2x (1) Hive Map
- 2x (1) Nightshade Tea
- 2x (1) Sizzling Cinder
- 1x (1) Unleash the Colossus
- 2x (2) Chaos Strike
- 2x (2) Infestation
- 2x (2) Spirit of the Team
- 2x (3) Gorishi Tunneler
- 2x (3) Hive Queen
- 2x (3) Hot Coals
- 2x (3) Insect Claw
- 2x (3) Nydus Worm
- 2x (3) Wyvern’s Slumber
- 1x (5) Aranna, Thrill Seeker
- 1x (6) Gnomelia, S.A.F.E. Pilot
- 2x (6) Gorishi Wasp
- 1x (8) Kerrigan, Queen of Blades
Deck ID
The Demon Hunter might not be the ultimate ruler of the Hearthstone meta, but this fresh Un’Goro Quest makes it a strong second place. This is due to its ability to dish out damage in pairs, with each pair leading to the acquisition of Gorishi Colossus, which adds an additional two damage for every instance where exactly two damage was inflicted. Quite a handful, isn’t it?
As a fan, I’d say: At first glance, the Gorishi Colossus may not appear threatening, but don’t underestimate its power. Particularly when you’re dishing out two damages with cards such as Hot Coals or Gnomelia. The unexpected hero in this deck is Aranna – she allows you to inflict two damages using a weapon like Insect Claw and redirect that damage towards an opponent instead!
Ozzie’s Murloc Paladin
- 1x (1) Dive the Golakka Depths
- 2x (1) Gnawing Greenfin
- 2x (1) Submerged Map
- 2x (2) Hand of A’dal
- 2x (2) Rockskipper
- 2x (2) Story of Galvadon
- 2x (2) Violet Treasuregill
- 2x (3) Hot Spring Glider
- 2x (3) Murloc Warleader
- 2x (3) Primalfin Challenger
- 2x (3) Ready the Fleet
- 2x (3) Underlight Angling Rod
- 2x (4) Steamfin Thief
- 1x (5) Finja, the Flying Star
- 1x (6) City Chief Esho
- 2x (6) Tyrannogill
- 1x (8) Grunty
Deck ID
Murlocs are back in a way that few expected, and they’re about to be everywhere.
The charm of the Paladin Quest lies in its dual nature: it functions as both a recurring mission rather than a one-time one. For every five Murloc creatures summoned, they gain an additional strength and health point. However, the risk associated with this deck setup is how swiftly you can accomplish this Quest using Murlocs that spawn other Murlocs. Cards such as Steamfin Thief and Tyrannogill, in conjunction with established cards like Finja, the Flying Star, will unleash a swarm of Murlocs at an alarming rate, leaving you overwhelmed.
In certain situations, you might defeat your opponents in just five or six rounds. But if the game goes on for a while, even Grunty has proven to be an invaluable Legendary. Do you remember when everyone chuckled at Grunty upon its initial introduction? Well, there’s not much laughter about Grunty these days, especially when it’s summoning hordes of Murlocs with greatly enhanced stats.
This particular deck lacks substantial options for drawing additional cards. You might want to think about incorporating Braingill or Prize Vendor into the mix instead.
Today, the Hearthstone: Lost City of Un’Goro expansion goes live! Among the decks you can start using right away on day one, which ones are you considering? Share your thoughts in the comments and let us know your top choices for decks to play.
