Guy Gardner & Lois Lane Argue in New Superman Clip Ahead of Release

During Nathan Fillion’s interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, a fresh snippet featuring Guy Gardner discussing Clark Kent’s famous “hypnotic spectacles” with Lois Lane was unveiled. These spectacles are an essential element of Kent’s costume and have now been confirmed by director James Gunn to play a role in the movie as a means for Kent to hide his Superman persona.

In a fresh video snippet, Nathan Fillion’s character Guy Gardner engages in a chat with Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane over the subject of hypnotic eyewear.

The video displays Gardner questioning Lois Lane about her knowledge of Superman. Lane responds vaguely, “I simply do.” Gardner then brings up the hypnotic glasses Clark Kent wears, causing Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl to accuse him of revealing Superman’s secrets. However, Gardner defends himself by clarifying that he was merely explaining how those glasses function, not disclosing Superman’s true identity.

He isn’t revealing the identity of the person, only mentioning that he wears hypnotic glasses. These glasses give him an amazing appearance. I’m curious about how they function. It seems they alter his face in your mind when worn, making it difficult to recognize who he is. Lane responds by letting him know she’s aware of the hypnotic glasses.

In a conversation with Comicbook.com, Gunn revealed that his inspiration for incorporating the hypno glasses came after discussing the issue with Tom King. He stated, “I was conversing with Tom King, a comic book writer, and I mentioned, ‘You know, the thing that I’ve always struggled to accept is the glasses because as a child, they always bothered me.’ This was due to my limited ability to suspend disbelief regarding them. However, he replied, ‘You know, there’s an explanation for that in the comics; it’s canon that they hypnotize people.’
