In a post on Instagram, the 21-year-old conservationist explained that a rushed encounter with fans had caused him to overlook the payment.

More recently, Robert Irwin publicly apologized following an awkward dining faux pas at a restaurant in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. A video posted on Instagram shows him admitting that he mistakenly left the Jetty Pavilion restaurant without settling his bill for the meal.

Irwin mentioned that he was driving across Australia’s East Coast and had dined in a coastal town. He shared, “I walked in, and there were many people who recognized me and asked for a picture, but it got quite overwhelming.” The Australian detailed how he greeted everyone and grabbed his meal, however, in the midst of the excitement, he inadvertently forgot to settle the bill. It wasn’t until the next day that he remembered his blunder.

The next morning, Irwin discovered he hadn’t paid for his salad from the previous day. Realizing he had pulled off an unintentional dine-and-dash, he felt awful. He promptly reached out to the restaurant and arranged to settle the bill online. Remarkably, the staff at the establishment were understanding and gracious about the oversight. Irwin mentioned that they said, “We appreciate your work, no worries, sorry for the confusion — just give us a positive review when you get a chance.

Irwin stated, “I’ll pass by Coffs Harbour again, and I’ll personally hand you the money. While I’m at it, I’d like to mention a small business that deserves support – a restaurant, if you’re interested. And just to set the record straight, today is not the day I embark on a life of crime, although some tabloids might find that intriguing, I assure you, it won’t happen.

After Irwin’s post, the restaurant acknowledged him in the comments on his video with a heartfelt thank-you message. They shared their appreciation by saying, “As a small coastal town, your visit means the world to us. We are big fans and truly grateful for your endorsement.
