For approximately seven years now, we haven’t received a mainline game from the Mega Man series since Mega Man 11 was released. However, don’t fret, as Capcom assures us that they haven’t forgotten about this intellectual property. In fact, they consider Mega Man to be a valuable asset for their franchise. They simply don’t have any new developments to share at the moment.
In a recent investor Q&A session, Capcom touched upon the Mega Man series for a moment. When a straightforward question about their plans for Mega Man was posed, Capcom provided this reply:
Although this might slightly disappoint Mega Man fans on its own, Capcom didn’t stop there. They also indicated that the level of fan interest in Mega Man is quite significant.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but reminisce about the last standalone Mega Man game that truly captured my heart – Mega Man 11, which dropped in 2018 and received generally favorable feedback, even here at Shacknews. It remains uncertain how much longer we’ll have to wait for updates on this cherished video game series from Capcom, but I can only hope that their awareness of our eagerness means that Mega Man will resurface in some shape or form.
While we anticipate the shape of things to come in the Mega Man series, keep an eye out for further news and insights about Capcom and related topics. Stay tuned!
