Over the past month, Marvel Snap and its developer Second Dinner have encountered some challenges. However, they are hopeful for a turnaround starting in July, which promises to be an exciting time. This upcoming season is set to honor Marvel’s First Family, the Fantastic Four, by reintroducing characters such as Mister Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, and The Thing into Marvel’s ever-evolving card game once more, bringing a mix of anticipation and confusion.
In the forthcoming television series, The Fantastic Four, we’ll encounter the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s interpretation of Marvel Comics’ iconic superhero squad, which originates from the upcoming film “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” These new characters in the series will possess unique abilities and roles compared to their existing game counterparts. However, one member of this extended family, who wasn’t previously part of the game, is set to make an appearance.
- (2) Mister Fantastic (Fantastic 4 First Steps) (2) (Season Pass card) – End of Turn: Give a card in your hand -1 Cost or +2 Power.
- (2) H.E.R.B.I.E. (3) – Each turn this is in play, swap to a new Activate ability until one is used.
- Activate: Give 2 of your cards at each other location +1 Power.
- Activate: Create a Rock here. Set its Power to 4.
- Activate: Double this card’s Power.
- Activate: Next turn, you get +2 Energy.
- (3) Human Torch (Fantastic 4 First Steps) (2) – End of Turn: +1 Power. Once per game, if your side here is full, double this card’s Power instead.
- (5) The Thing (Fantastic 4 First Steps) (6) – End of Turn: +2 Power. Once per game, if your side here is full, destroy an enemy card here with less Power.
- (3) Invisible Woman (Fantastic 4 First Steps) (5) – Activate: This turn, your End of Turn abilities happen twice.
Alongside the regular Weekly Cards for Series 5, keep an eye out for upcoming Series 4 cards this month as well. The Fantasticar, Mole Man, Mad Thinker will be included in these new Series 4 cards, obtainable through Snap Packs. Additionally, two new locations, Reed’s Lab and Rocket Pad, are being added to the game.
The new Fantastic Four card releases are thrilling, yet they spark curiosity regarding Variants, which many consider to be Marvel Snap’s most cherished aspect. With this Fantastic Four being grounded in real-world characters, one might wonder how many Variant designs could potentially exist. Despite these questions, the development of Variants for these cards seems to continue as planned, with the reveal video from Monday showcasing Adi Granov variants, among others, and offering a glimpse into the design process for this particular version of the Fantastic Four.
Lastly, I can’t wait to dive into Marvel Snap’s latest temporary feature – Grand Arena! This exciting new mode lets you select a champion and strategically choose a skill card to complement your character. Fingers crossed that the rewards in this mode are more accessible compared to previous limited-time events from June, which, let’s be honest, didn’t go down too well with fans.
Marvel Snap’s July 2025 season will kick off this Tuesday, July 8.
