It seems that Satoru Honma, the producer of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, initially stated there were no plans for a second season. However, it appears that Netflix, Studio Trigger, and CD Projekt Red have joined forces again to bring us another season! Yes, you heard it right, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 has been confirmed, offering new characters and a fresh storyline within the expansive Night City universe.
Over the weekend, Netflix, CD Projekt, and Studio Trigger revealed that they are working on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Shortly after, they released a teaser trailer for the upcoming season. If you haven’t seen the first season yet and want to, be aware that the teaser may reveal some major plot points. However, it also gives us a glimpse of new characters who will weave a fresh tale set in the iconic, dystopian future city of Cyberpunk 2077.
Initially, the debut of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners garnered significant acclaim for its depiction of Night City and its struggling inhabitants, significantly improving Cyberpunk 2077’s standing following a challenging launch. However, the series concluded on a rather abrupt note, making it difficult to continue the original characters’ stories. By 2022, this factor might have contributed to the uncertainty surrounding Season 2. Yet, given the success of the initial season, it appears that CD Projekt and Studio Trigger are now discussing the possibility of creating another animated series set in Night City once more.
