Curious about why “Did Ozzy Osbourne retire?” is popular? The trend stems from his emotional show at the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham, where he performed with Black Sabbath’s original members for what seems to be a farewell performance. Fans are now debating whether this could mean that Osbourne is indeed retiring.
What does the ‘Did Ozzy Osbourne retire?’ trend mean?
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been buzzing about the question circling everywhere: “Is Ozzy Osbourne hanging up his rockstar boots?” The buzz started after what seemed like his swan song live performance on July 6, 2025. That day, I was absolutely stoked to see Ozzy reuniting with Black Sabbath’s original crew – Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for a mind-blowing event called Back to the Beginning, held at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. According to Black Sabbath’s official website, this event was touted as my farewell show. So, is Ozzy really retiring? Well, it sure feels like it!
For the first time in more than two decades, the classic Black Sabbath lineup performed together on stage, playing only four songs: “War Pigs,” “N.I.B.,” “Iron Man,” and “Paranoid.” Guitarist Tony Iommi had earlier mentioned that health issues among the band members would keep their performance brief.
Osbourne spoke to a crowd of 42,000 while sitting on a chair with a bat motif on top, serving as his throne during the show. He exclaimed, “It’s incredible to be standing on this stage! I can hardly believe it. The madness begins now!” Additionally, he showed his appreciation by stating, “Your unwavering support over time has allowed us to lead the life we do today. From the depths of my heart, thank you. I adore you. We cherish you.” (via CNN)
Prior to rejoining his fellow band members, Osbourne delivered a solo performance accompanied by his longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde. During this part of the show, they played “I Don’t Know,” “Mr. Crowley,” “Suicide Solution,” “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” and “Crazy Train.” The 75-year-old vocalist, who announced his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2020, informed the audience that he had been sidelined for six years.
Throughout the entire event, renowned actor Jason Momoa served as the host, enthusiastically interacting with the audience and even joining the crowd in the mosh pit. After Ozbourne’s concluding song, they were honored with a cake as fireworks exploded overhead at Villa Park, creating a spectacular display in the sky.
