Producer Sev Ohanian, behind the scenes of Ironheart, shares insights about the potential paths for Riri Williams and other new characters featured in Marvel Studio’s recent Disney+ series. This project brings an end to Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Ironheart is overseen by chief writer Chinaka Hodge in her executive producer role, while Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes take on directing duties. The series unfolds after the occurrences depicted in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, centering around the eponymous young prodigy inventor who strives to leave an impact on the world using her iron armor. Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, Lyric Ross, Manny Montana, Zoe Terakes, Shea Couleé, Shakira Barrera, and others make up the talented cast of this show.
Ironheart producer teases characters’ movie future in the MCU
In a recent conversation with ScreenCrush, Ohanian mentioned that Ironheart’s character stories are likely to persist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Yet, it’s not guaranteed that this continuation will occur in a hypothetical Season 2 of Ironheart. Instead, he hinted at the possibility that these characters might reappear in other MCU productions.
Ohanian hinted that he can’t reveal any specific details about upcoming plans, but he did share his admiration for the MCU’s one-of-a-kind nature, except perhaps Star Wars, which is now transitioning from series to movies. He suggested that these characters could potentially appear in various formats such as a second season, another show entirely, or even a movie.
He added, “It seems to me that we may encounter these figures again, and the storyline could reappear, altered but recognizable, somewhere or somehow.
The Disney+ series is overseen by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Zoie Nagelhout, Ryan Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Zinzi Coogler as executive producers. Since its premiere, it has earned a Certified Fresh rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes from 97 reviews.
